Canyons Resort Activities and Amenities

When the temperature rises in the city, what could be better then escaping into the fresh mountain air and enjoying everything Canyons Resort has to offer for the summer traveler? Summer activities open on June 18th and that is when Utah’s largest ski and snowboard resort, covering over 3700 acres, sheds its layers of snow to expose some of the most spectacular mountain bike trails, hiking paths and a disc golf course.

July 4th Celebrations

Canyons Resort boasts Park City’s ONLY July 3rd celebration, and is located conveniently right outside your hotel door. The party starts with a concert by Soulistics, a local 10 piece band covering the best of funk, R&B, and soul tunes with a little bit of Motown thrown in.  Following the concert at 9:30pm is an amazing firework show! This celebration is family friendly and free to the public, as well as one of the best celebrations in Park City. More information can be found online at Canyons Resort’s Event Page.

On July 4th, Park City is the place to be. Up in Old Town, the celebrations begin with a pancake breakfast at 7am, followed by the Park City Ski Team 5k Fun Run (registration required). At 11am, the famous 4th of July Parade with over 70 floats celebrating Park City’s history runs down Main Street and around the Old Town area. Following the parade, head to City Park to enjoy food, live music, vendors, and games for the rest of the afternoon!  Fireworks will take off from Park City Mountain Resort at dusk. Park City offers an extensive and free bus system that will take you from Canyons Resort into town to enjoy the festivities. Click here for more information.

Up the Mountain

Red Pine Gondola begins running on July 3rd. Start your adventure at Canyon Mountain Sport to pick up a gondola ticket and trail map. Make sure to stock up on sunscreen and water because when you unload Red Pine Gondola (open from 10am-5pm) at mid-mountain you will be at an elevation of over 8,000 feet. The scenery during the ride on the ride is stunning and will be your first introduction to the adventures ahead.

Take advantage of the following outdoors activities while up the mountain:

  • Hiking
  • Mountain Biking

Hiking

Check out the miles of hiking Canyons Resort offers.  Accessible from the Red Pine area are hikes for all ages and abilities. Pick up a trail map from Canyon Mountain Sports or Red Pine. New this summer to Canyons Resort is our Guided Hiking Program. Local guides will introduce guests to the beauty of the Wasatch Mountains with hikes throughout the extensive network of trails within the resort. With gourmet lunches and snacks along for the hikes, these adventures will showcase the beauty of the natural setting.
