The Canyons Resort Activities and Amenities

When the temperature rises in the city, what could be better then escaping into the fresh mountain air and enjoying everything The Canyons Resort has to offer for the summer traveler? Summer activities open on June 18th and that is when Utah’s largest ski and snowboard resort covering over 3700 acres sheds its layers of snow to expose some of the most spectacular mountain bike trails, hiking paths and a disc golf course.

Fitness

The Health Club has phenomenal classes to get your heart pumping and tone your muscles. Bikini Boot Camp, Water Aerobics, Yoga and Pilates classes are all offered and a schedule can be found on line.

Restaurants

The Canyons restaurants are amazing. For a sit-down meal, check out The Cabin at The Grand Summit. For something a little quicker or on-the-go, visit First Tracks Café in The Grand Summit. If you go up the mountain, you can quench your thirst and feed your appetite while up the mountain at Red Pine Café at Red Pine Lodge open from 11:30am-3:00pm every day. This café offers sit down table service as well as grab and go snacks.

Spa

If staying near the hotel and resort village area there is never a shortage of activities to be found. One of the best was to occupy your day is to spend some quality time in the Grand Summit Spa. Facials, manicures, pedicures or hot stone massages all seem like a lovely distraction from everyday life. The spa menu has a plethora of indulgences to suit your mood and/or needs.

Up the Mountain

Start your adventure at Canyon Mountain Sport to pick up a gondola ticket and trail map. Make sure to stock up on sunscreen and water because when you unload the Flight of The Canyons gondola (open from 10am-5pm) at mid mountain you will be at an elevation of over 8,000ft. The scenery during the ride on the Flight (as it is known to insiders) is stunning and will be your first introduction to the adventures ahead.
Take advantage of the following outdoors activities while up the mountain:

  • Alpine Disc Golf
  • Hiking
  • Mountain Biking

Alpine Disc Golf

Combine Frisbee and golf and you have one of the most entertaining (if not frustrating) games around, Alpine disc golf. Specially created discs which include drivers and putters are available for rent at Canyon Mountain Sport and the course meanders its way through the trees and terrain surrounding Red Pine Lodge. It’s a fantastic way to combine a nature walk with some friendly competition.

Hiking

If you choose to hike try the family friendly Red Pine Loop trail located just off of the High Meadow Lift (open from 10am-4pm) or for a short, easy yet satisfying hike hit the High Meadow Loop just across from Red Pine Lodge.

Mountain Biking

If you choose to mountain bike remember, helmets are required but everyone at 19 Sport in the resort village will help gear you up including renting you a bike. 19 Sport is located next door to Canyon Mountain Sport and both are just steps away from The Grand Summit Hotel and Sundial Lodge.
